Jeszcze niecale dwa tygodnie i beda Swieta. Czekam i ciesze sie strasznie. U nas pogoda iscie wiosenna, dzis jest 20°C i cudowne slonce! Two weeks left before Christmas! I'm waiting and I'm extremely happy! Here, the weather is really pampering everyone: it's warm (20°C) and sunny! But this does not discourage me from preparations for the winter-Christmas season! Firstly, it's been two days since I started listening to Christmas songs, chants and carols. I znowu bedzie o ubrankach. Zaczyna sie robic nudno, ale jestem w tym momencie na etapie szukania dla wszystkich swiatecznych prezentow. Poza tym minelo juz tyle czasu, od kiedy ostatni raz wybralam sie na zakupy, ze nie moge sie juz doczekac przyjazdu do Polski i moich ulubionych sklepow. Dzis chcialabym pomowic o Reserved. Nie jest on na tej liscie "nie przeoczyc!". Reserved jest dziwny. to marka, ktora czasami mnie bawi lub milo zaskakuje, czasami mnie nuzy albo mocno rozczarowuje. Ale w tej, zimowej kolekcji, jest sporo rzeczy, ktore moglabym w mojej szafie posiadac. Oto przyklady:

Besides, it's been so long since thelast time I went shopping and I cannot wait to come to Poland and visit my favouritestores. Today I would like to talk about Polish Reserved. Well, frankly speaking, this brand is not on my-favourite-shops list. My attitude towards it is quite ambivalent: it sometimes nicely surprises me and sometimes makes me very disappointed. But in this, winter collection, there area lot of things that I could have in my closet. Here are examples:

Jestem na Sycylii, ale niestety rowniez tu nastala juz jesien. Szczegolnie odczuwam to wieczorami i w nocy, kiedy temperatura na zewnatrz spada do 16°C. Na szczescie, spimy nadal bez potrzeby wlaczania ogrzewania, ale nie znaczy to, ze nie trzeba sie zaopatrzyc w cieplejsze koldry, pizamy i koce. Wchodzac ostatnio na strone Dobranocki, znalazlam kilka fantastycznych propozycji na chlodniejsze noce (i nie tylko). Popatrzcie sami.

I live in Sicily. Autumn, however came over here as well. I especially feel that during evenings and at night, when the temperature outside decreases to 16°C. Fortunately, we still do not need to turn the heating on at night but it's definitely necessary to use warmer covers, pijamas and blankets. A few days ago, I stumbled upon Dobranocka's (a Polish company producing pijamas and underwear for men and women) website and look what lovely pieces I found on it:

Tak, wiem, juz bardzo dlugo niepisalam. Nie bylo czasu, nie bylo ochoty. Po dwoch miesiacach uswiadomilamsobie, ze jednak tego pisania mi znowu brakuje. Chyba tak juz musi byc na moimblogu, ze od czasu do czasu, musze zrobic przerwe, musze skupic sie na innych,bardziej przyziemnych rzeczach (jak praca czy codzienne obowiazki), aby mocpozniej, z usmiechem wrocic do mojego bloga.

No i jestem. Jestem szczesliwa, bo to, coostatnio dokonalo sie we Wloszech uznaje za cud. Oczywiscie za wczesnie by skakac z radosci,bo zadnych konkretnych namacalnych zmian jeszcze nie ogloszono, ale liczy sie samfakt, ze po kilkudziesiecioletniej “dyktaturze” pod rzadami Silvio Berlusconiego,przyszedl czas na zmiany. W ciagu 15 dni, zmienilo sie wszystko. Nikt nieuwierzylby, gdyby ktos miesiac temu powiedzial, ze dotychczasowy premier podasie do dymisji. Kazdy powiedzialby: to zbyt piekne, by bylo prawdziwe. Srednia wieku w obecnym rzadzie to 63 lata. Poprzednio srednia wieku to 52 lata. Generalnie Pan Berlusconi uwielbial towarzystwo mlodszego damskiego pokolenia. Wystarczy tylko dodac, ze wszystkie poprzednie Panie Minister, byly przez Premiera nazywane “BAMBINE”, czyli “dziewczynki”…

Pelna kultura, pelny bon ton.
W nowym rzadzie, Mario Monti wybral az 3 kobiety na najwazniejsze funkcje w kraju: Ministerstwo Spaw Wewnetrznych, Ministerstwo Sprawiedliwosci oraz Ministerstwo Pracy, Spraw Społecznych i Równouprawnienia.

Jak podsumowala gazeta, “Adessocomincia il percorso di guerra di Mario Monti” (Teraz dla Mario Monti zaczyna sie tor przeszkod). Mijemy nadzieje,ze pokona go bez zadnego problemu. Ma na to duze szanse oraz poparcie ze strony85% spoleczenstwa wloskiego (i co najmniej jednej osoby ze spoleczenstwapolskiego).

Yes, I know, it’s been a while since I last wrote a post. There was notime, there was no strong willingness. Aftertwo months, however, I realized that I’m missing my writing. Ithink it just has to be so: every now and then, I need a shorter or longerbreak and concentrate on other, more mundane things (like work or dailyresponsibilities) to later, with a smile return to my blog.

Well, here I am. Iam happy, because what recently has taken place in Italy, needs to beconsidered a miracle. Ofcourse, too early to jump with joy, because any specific tangible changes havenot yet been announced, but what counts is the fact that after several decades ofthe "dictatorship" under the rule of Silvio Berlusconi, time for a transformationhas finally and inevitably come. Within 15 days, everything haschanged. Nobodywould ever believe if someone, a month ago said that the former Prime Minister wouldresign. Everyone wouldsay: it's too good to be true. And yet. Thenew Prime Minister is Mario Monti, whose experience and merits are appreciatedamong all heads of European Union Member States and the entire EuropeanCommission, where for 9 years he worked as a commissioner. Togive you just an outline of what happened, I’m going to present you a few factsfrom the last few days, citing the newspaper "Repubblica" from November17 2011, i.e. the day after the appointment of a new cabinet.

Firstly, the new government consists of independent, non-party experts in the fields of political science, economics, law, medicine and banking. They have been professors and lecturers at many Italian and foreign universities for many years. The new Minister of Foreign Affairs is a former Italy’s ambassador to the United States (from 2009 until being appointed by Mario Monti), and the position of Minister of Defense is now held by the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. There is not a single politician.
Secondly, we have only 17 Ministers, compared to the previous Berlusconi’s government, which counted 21 of them (obviously appointed by Berlusconi just to help his friends and use his newly acquired power to the maximum).
Thirdly, the average age of the Ministers in the current government is 63 years old. Previously the average age was 52 years. In short, Mr. Berlusconi loved the company of younger women. After all, all the female ministers were called “BAMBINE” (baby girls) by him.
After a very short (lasting only 13 min) swearing-in ceremony and an even shorter, extremely quiet toast, all, without further ado, without patting one other on the back, loud congratulations on the mobile phones and long discussions with journalists, graciously left the building, giving out only the indispensible information to the journalists and... started to work.
Last, but not least, In the new government, Mario Monti decided that three women will hold key posts in the country: the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Welfare.

As summed up in the newspaper, "Adesso comincia il percorso di guerra di Mario Monti" (Now an assault course for Mario Monti begins). Let’s hope he’ll go through it without a single problem. He’s running a big chance to succeed, supported by 85% of the Italian population (and at least one person from the Polish society).

To byl dlugi i ciezki tydzien. Najpierw, w poniedzialek, R i ja dowiedzielismy sie o smierci naszego wspanialego przyjaciela, ktorego na szczescie mielismy okazje odwiedzic podczas naszych tegorocznych wakacji w Stanach. Czasami przeznaczenie stwarza takie dziwne okazje, ktore doceniamy tak naprawde dopiero we wlasciwym czasie.

It was a long and tough week. First, on Monday, we found out about death of our dear friend who we had an incredible chance to see during our holidays in the US last summer. We're so grateful to have had this possibility. Sometimes the destiny leads you to people and places which we are able to trully appreciate only in the right time after the occurrance happens.

Potem, we wtorek, dwa maile z odrzuceniem mojej kandydatury na:

1. fantastyczny darmowy kurs "Zarzadzanie, Ekonomia i Psychologia Turystyki" (po drugim etapie selekcji);

2. stanowisko administratora w szkole miedzynarodowej w Rzymie

Then, on Tuesday, I received 2 job/school rejection emails. Those regarded:

1. a fantastic free course in "Administration, Economy and Psychology of Tourism", after being selected as a short listed candidate

2. a position of a PA at an international school in Rome

W ten sam dzien, aplikowalam na nauczyciela jezyka angielskiego w Catanii. Po 2 godzinach, otrzymalam telefon z prosba o przyjscie na rozmowe kwalifikacyjna juz nastepnego dnia. Bylam zszokowana, ze zadzwonili tak szybko.

W srode, wiec autobusem o 8.30 rano udalam sie do Catanii. Pierwsza czesc "selekcji" to zwykly formularz zawierajacy dane osobowe, plus ok 10 pytan dotyczacych moich osobistych sukcesow i porazek, doswiadczen zawodowych, itp. itd. Druga czesc polegala na rozwiazaniu psychologicznego testu na osobowosc (!?), 16PF (16 Personality Factor Test) skladajacego sie ze 185 pytan ukazujacych sie na scianie za pomoca wyswietlajacego ich projektora w grupach po 4 pytania za kazdym razem. Tu znajdziecie szczegoly. Nastepnie, odbylam 20min rozmowe z przedstawicielem szkoly (psychologiem? rekruterem? nie wiem) a potem 40 min test z angielskiego. Test byl b. trudny. Nie chodzilo tylko o problemy gramatyczne, idiomy, czy slownictwo. Test obejmowal takze problemy historyczno-literacko-polityczne wszystkich krajow anglosaskich.

To bylo jedno z najtrudniejszych procesow rekrutacji, w jakich kiedykolwiek bralam udzial. Wszystko trwalo ok 2.5godz. i mialam wrazenie, ze aplikuje co najmniej na stanowisko dyrektora jakiegos ogromnego koncernu miedzynarodowego. Wrocilam do domu strasznie zmeczona.

Na pocieszenie znalazlam ten komiks (to rozmowa kwalifikacyjna do Ikei, a pan za biurkiem mowi: "Prosze usiasc"):

On the same day, I applied for a language teacher position in a school in Catania. To my great surprise, after 2hours, my phone rang and a nice lady from the school asked me to come to a job interview the following day.

On Wednesday, then I took the 8.30am bus and went to Catania. The first part of the selection entailed a simple personal data form plus a questionnaire with 10 questions regarding my personal and career experiences, my best and worst traits, etc. The second part included a psychological test called 16 Personality Factor Test embracing 185 questions and limited time to answer them all (about 50 mins). The questions popped out in groups of four. You can read more about it here. Next, I had a 20 min interview with the HR officer/psychologist and then a 40 min test in English. Really difficult. What puzzled me was the fact that not only did the quiz concern vocabulary, grammar or idioms but also a wide range of political/literary/historical issues in all the anglophone countries.

This was one of the most difficult job interviews I have ever taken part in. It felt as though I was applying for an international company director/manager position. I came home totally worn out.

Jakby tego bylo malo, wczoraj w naszej dzielnicy zabraklo wody (u nas zdarza sie to mniej wiecej raz w miesiacu, ze wzgledu na restrukturyzacje wodociagowa i prace, ktore sa obecnie wykonywane), a ja na wczoraj wlasnie zaplanowalam sprzatanie mieszkania... Bez komentarza.

If that wasn't enough, yesterday we lacked water in our building (this is trigged by the fact the whole district is undergoing some sewerage pipes & pumps refurbishment or sth) and I (of course) had planned to clean my apartment on that particular day. No comment.

Powinnam teraz zamknac sie w czarnej otchlani rozpaczy? Tak, to by bylo najlatwiejsze. Ale tego nie zrobie. Znalazlam ten napis: "Nie obawiaj sie poniesc porazki. Obawiaj sie nie probowac." Bardzo madre i bardzo przekonywujace.

Should I wallow in despair and self-pity? Yes, that's right, that would be the easiest thing to do. But I won't. I've stumbled upon this image today. I find this incredibly wise and convincing.

Miejmy nadzieje, ze chociaz weekend bedzie fajniejszy i spokojniejszy. Na jutro mamy zaplanowana wizyte na wystawie psow, ktora akurat odbywa sie w naszym miescie oraz spotkanie ze znajomymi na pizzy w Acqua del Ferro, czyli w miejscu, ktore ogromnie lubie, ale do ktorego udajemy sie dosc rzadko ze wzgledu na odleglosc (ok 1.5godz samochodem).

Let's just hope the weekend will be more fun. We're planning on dropping in on our friends who come to Syracuse for a dog exhibition. In addition, we're going for a pizza to Acqua del Ferro, a place I absolutely adore and which we don't frequent that often (it takes 1.5h drive to get there).

W ostatnim roku wydaje mi sie, ze przechodze cos w sensie... hmm... wewnetrzej przemiany..?? Byc moze fakt, ze w tym roku zostane juz 30-letnia kobieta (tak tak... i wierzcie, ze ciezko ten numer przechodzi mi teraz przez gardlo) sprawia, ze na wszystko powinnam patrzec z "innej perspektywy". Chodzi mi o styl, ktoremu do tej pory bylam bezgranicznie wierna, a ktory zaczyna, jakby ewoluowac albo po prostu przechodzic jakas dziwna transformacje. Kolor rozowy i fioletowy, ktory dominuje (nadal do tej pory) w mojej szafie chyba przestaje mi byc juz "niezbedny do zycia" a styl "baby doll" powoli przestaje byc tym "najfajniejszym na swiecie"...

Dzis przez przypadek natknelam sie na "stare" (2009) specjalne wydanie wloskiego Vogue z najnowszymi kolekcjami na wiosne/lato. W srodku bylo pelno post-it z zaznaczonymi przeze mnie ciuchami, ktore wpadly mi wtedy w oko. Wiecie co? Ponad polowa dzisiaj juz mi sie nie podobala!

Dziwne to wszystko. Nawet dla mnie. Oto kilka ciuchow z pokazow na jesien - zima 2011, ktore mi sie podobaja, sa dla mnie jakas inspiracja, a ktorych na pewno nie zauwazylabym nawet jeszcze rok temu:

This year is quite significant for metaking into consideration the fact I’ll turn 30 this October (which I canhardly pronounce aloud!) Also, it looks like, I’m undergoing some kind of…style transformation?! I have no idea if these two things are somehow connectedor not. The point is, I start to look at colors, materials, and patterns… from"a different perspective". I mean the style, which up to now I was extremelyfaithful to, right now, starts to evolve or/and is subjected to some kind of astrange transformation. Pink and purple which dominate (still today) in mycloset, cease to be the only acceptable colors and the "baby doll” style the"coolest in the world"...

Today, I came across the "old"(2009) special issue of Italian Vogue with the latest collections for spring /summer. It was full of post-it notes which I attached to the clothes I liked bestat that time being. You know what? I didn’t like more than half of them when Ilooked at them yesterday!

That’s all so strange. Even for me. Hereare some shots from autumn - winter 2011 fashion shows. These clothes are notpink or purple and in spite of this I find them attractive and definitely getme very inspired! I’m sure I wouldn’t even notice them one year ago!

Ta ostatnia (Stella McCartney) to chyba jedna z najpopularniejszych sukienek w tym sezonie. Przynajmniej we Wloszech, gdzie widac ja wszedzie! Co druga prezenterka telewizyjna ma jakas jej wersje (dluzsza lub krotsza dlugosc) a ostatnio widzialam ja nawet w wersji kombinezonu (z dwoma nogawkami na Belen Rodrigez, zdjecie ponizej). Mnie najbardziej podoba sie ta powyzej (na Anji Rubik) oraz ta ostatnia na zdjeciu "zbiorowym".

The last dress (Stella McCartney) is probably one of the hippest this season. At least in Italy, where I can see every other TV presenter wearing a different version (shorter or longer) of it during various occasions and recently I have spotted the jumpsuit version worn by Belen Rodrigez (pic below). To my mind, the most beautiful is the one above (worn by Anja Rubik) as well as the last one in the collective picture.

Jak wiecie, w tym okresie w mojej rodzinie rozmawia sie prawie tylko na temat slubu, wesela, fryzur, butow, itd a to wszystko za sprawa slubu mojego brata, ktory juz tuz tuz, tj. 8.10.2011!

Przez przypadek, natknelam sie na kolejna suknie slubna, ktora zrobila na mnie wielkie wrazenie. I nie kosztuje €1000 albo 4000zl tylko $840 czyli €630 czyli 2500zl. Duzo, ale bez przesady. Suknia jest w przecudownym lekko rozowym kolorze, przez co staje sie b. uniwersalna i naprawde moglaby byc uzyta ponownie z innymi dodatkami. Super! Mozecie zamowic tutaj.

As you know, at present, in my family we’retalking almost only about the wedding reception, haircuts, shoes, etc. and itis all because of my brother's wedding, which is already behind the door, i.e.08.10.2011!

Juz druga niedziele pod rzad probuje przygotowac pyszne nalesniki w amerykanskim stylu. Maja byc male, puszyste i bardzo smaczne. w zeszla niedziele ciasto, ktore wyrobilam (wedlug przepisu na stronie Marthy Stewart), mialo zbyt rzadka konsystencje i w rezultacie nalesniki przypominaly francuskie crêpes (od ktorych jestem specjalistka) a nie amerykanskie pancakes. Jednym slowem, nie bylo nawet co pokazywac i czym sie chwalic. Wczorajsze nalesniki natomiast, wymagaja jeszcze udoskonalenia, ale juz jestesmy na dobrym tropie. Oto efekt koncowy wczorajszej proby:

Yesterday was the second Sunday in a row whenI tried to prepare delicious American pancakes. They should be small, fluffyand very tasty. On the first Sunday, the consistency of the dough I made(recipe taken from Martha Stewart's website), was too liquid and the pancake resembled moreFrench crêpes (in which I am an expert) rather than American pancakes. Inshort, it was not even worth showing here. Yesterday’s pancake still requiresome improvements, but we are on the right track. Here is the final result ofyesterday's attempt:

Wielka radosc i wielkie rozczarowanie zarazem po mojej pierwszej wizycie w Melilli Outlet. Sama struktura jest imponujaca, polaczenie stali, szkla oraz gra swiatla robi wielkie wrazenie. Wszystko ma przypominac wielka lodz/statek (w koncu outlet znajduje sie na "brzegu" morza). Jednak po wielkim zachwycie, przychodzi ogromne niedowierzanie i niedosyt: nic nie jest jeszcze w 100% gotowe. Otwartych jest ok 10 sklepow (na planowanych 100!), takich jak: Golden Point, Motivi, Guru, Lindt, Difussione Tessile, jakas perfumeria (nieznana mi siec), ksiegarnia i chyba to wszystko! Parking jest jeszcze w ogole nie oznakowany! Adwokaci juz zacieraja rece na nieuchronne wypadki, stluczki i inne historie. Wszedzie widac worki z cementem, piach, murarzy, pracownikow w kombinezonach ochronnych, itd itp. Nie do pomyslenia! Przeciez data otwarcia do zeszlego tyg. nie byla jeszcze znana; czy nie mozna bylo po prostu jej przesunac o kilka... nie, nie tygodni... miesiecy?! Mogli przeciez otworzyc kilka tygodni przed swietami, wtedy wszyscy "rzuciliby" sie na przedswiateczne zakupy!

Pomijajac te katastrofe, cieszy mnie fakt, ze w koncu bede mogla spedzic caly dzien w jednym miejscu, a nie jezdzic po calym miescie w poszkiwaniu butow, torebek, sukienek, bielizny, pudrow i innych niezbednych mi rzeczy :)

Great joy and great disappointment at thesame time after my first visit to Melilli Outlet. The structure is extraordinary,combination of steel, glass and light game makes a great impression. Everythinghas to resemble a big boat / ship (after all, the outlet is located on the"coastline”). However, after the first thrill, comes a huge disappointmentand dissatisfaction: nothing is truly ready and finished. Only about 10 stores(out of the 100 planned!) are open, such as: Golden Point, Motivi, Guru, Lindt,Difussione Tessile, some sort of a perfume shop(of some unknown name), a bookshop and I think that's it! Parking is still not marked at all! Attorneys are alreadyrubbing their hands at the inevitable accidents, fender benders and similar occurrences.Everywhere you can see bags of cement, sand, bricklayers, workers in protectiveoveralls, etc., etc. Simply unthinkable! The opening date was not known until lastweek, wasn’t it better just to put it off for another several… no, not weeks… months?!After all they could open the outlet a few weeks before Christmas, when everyonewould go on a shopping spree!

Apart from this catastrophe, I appreciatethat I will finally be able to spend all day in one place and not drive allover town in search for shoes, bags, dresses, make-up products and othernecessary things :)

Oto moja nowa stara sukienka na poprawiny. Dlaczego stara? Bo to oryginalna sukienka z lat 70-tych, ktora przez lata lezala w szafie Mamy R. I ja ja dostalam! Czyz nie jest cudowna?

And here's my new-old dress for the second day of the wedding. Why "old"? Beacuse it's an original dress from the 1970's which was tucked away in R's Mum's wardrobe. And she gave it to me! Isn't it beautiful?

Poza tym juz w ten piatek otworza dlugo wyczekiwany tu Outlet na licencji Fashion District (to jedna z wiodacych sieci outletow w calych Wloszech). Kazdy liczy na niesamowite sklepy z niesamowitymi obnizkami i rabatami (zgodnie z definicja outletu, wszystko powinno kosztowac od 30 do 70% taniej niz w regularnych sklepach). Niestety nadal lista sklepow utrzymana jest w tajemnicy, miejmy nadzieje, ze nie bedzie rozczarowania. Oto strona internetowa (nadal nie otwarta).

Changing the subject only a little, this Friday the new Melilli Outlet will be opened. It's licensed by Fashion District (one of the leading outlet brands in Italy). Everyone hopes for amazing shops with amazing discounts (between 30 and 70% according to the definition of "outlets"). Unfortunately the list of shops still remains top secret, hopefully we'll avoid a disillusionment. here's the website (still not working).

Czy to zdjecie Di Caprio to nie jest mjstersztyk? To z najnowszego (z pazdziernika) amerykanskiego wydania GQ. Wyglada jak mlody Paul Newman. I ten przeszywajacy wzrok Clinta Eastwood'a... Robi piorunujace wrazenie, w moim skromnym mniemaniu.

To bylo naprawde dlugie i wspaniale lato. Najpierw moje wakacje w Polsce. Bardzo duzo sie dzialo, przygotowania do slubu, szukanie sukni dla Mamy, garnituru dla Taty, dodatkow (buty, torebka, szal) dla mnie, szalona noc z A., masaz i peeling w spa, fryzjer, usuwanie zeba (tak, pozbylam sie pierwszej "osemki"), spotkania na kawie w Coffee Heaven itd itp. Jak zwykle nie chcialam wracac.

This was a long, wonderful summer. First, I went to Poland for my 2-week holidays. It was all very intense and passed so quickly: preparations for my brother's wedding ceremony, looking for a gown for my Mum, a suit for my Dad and all the accessories for me (shoes, bag and a shawl), a crazy girls-night-out with A., masage and peeling in a spa beauty salon, hairdresser, taking out a tooth (yes, I got rid off the useless "8th" tooth), coffees at Coffee Heaven with friends, etc. As always, I didn't feel like coming back.

Potem sierpien i nasz w ostatniej chwili zaplanowany "wypad" do Stanow. W ciagu dwoch tygodni udalo nam sie zwiedzic Nowy Jork, Chicago i Wisconsin. Na liscie byl tez Boston, ale z powodu huraganu musielismy skrocic nasz wyjazd o 2 dni. To nic. Bylo magicznie, kolorowo, bezpretensjonalnie, b.amerykansko i tak jak w filmach... Szkoda slow, popatrzcie sami:

Then, there was August and our last-minute planned holidays in the US. In two weeks we managed to visit New York, Chicago and Wisconsin. There was also Boston on our to-do list but beacuse of the predicted hurricane Irene, we had to leave 2 days earlier which I don't regret. All in all, it was fabulous, colorful, unpretentious and very American, just like in movies. I'm lacking words, please see for yourselves:

Uwielbiam szukac w siecie roznych nowoczesnych rozwiazan architektonicznych, technologicznych.Wydaje mi sie, ze taras w ciagu ostatnich lat nabral nowego znaczenia i wymiaru. Z dodatkowego, malo funkcjonalnego pomieszczenia-magazynu, gdzie mozna trzymac szczotki, miotly, i kartony z nieuzywana odzieza (jesli jest tez daszek), stal sie integralna czescia mieszkania, dodatkowym pokojem, ktory w krajach takich jak poludniowe Wlochy mozna wykorzystac prawie przez caly rok. Taras moze stac sie ogrodem z basenem, jesli tylko przestrzen na to pozwala. Do tego piekne meble i duzo odpowiedniej zieleni. Bosko!

Recently I have been absolutely obsessed with terraces. I love looking for new innovative architectural and technological solutions. In my humble opinion the function of terrace has shifted from being a storage room in which you can keep brushes, brooms and buckets and boxes with old clothes (if there's also some kind of roof) to an integral part of an apartment, an extra room, which in countries like Southern Italy can be used all year long. Terrace can become a garden with a swimming pool, if only the space allows. Add only some fancy pieces of furniture, a lot of plants and voilà!

It's summer! I'm so happy and excited! especially that I hope to have some more time for myself (I'm already making a list in my head of all the things I'd like to do during this warm season and getting a nice suntan is definitely on top of it!). Enjoy!

Do tego, dzis ujawniono, ktore z polskich miast otrzyma prestizowy tytul Europejskiego Miasta Kultury w 2016 roku. Bedzie to Wroclaw i ta wiadomosc bardzo mnie ucieszyla, bo odwiedzialm to miasto po raz pierwszy pod koniec zeszlego roku i strasznie mi sie podobalo. Uwazam, ze zasluzylo na tak piekne wyroznienie.

Plus, today we have found out that thew new European Capital of Culture in 2016 will be Wroclaw (Poland) together with another Spanish city (the name of which I don't remember right now). I'm happy as I visited Wroclaw last year and I beleive it truly deserves it! :)

Chce zwrocic Wasz uwage tez na jedna z polskich artystek, ktorych do tej pory nie docenialam. Pati Yang i jej nowa plyta "Wires and Sparks" jest rewelacyjna (na pewno kupie, kiedy bede w Polsce). Firstly, the new port/marina of Siracusa. Ever since I came to Sicily, this port has always been a hot topic. I have heard about reconstruction, modernization, upgrading, transformation projects. Politicians informing, promising and describing their ideas and plans regarding the new port. What's more, the process of building the new port has actually started and then, out of no good reason, stopped. We, Siracusa residents, witnessed emerging big, hideous pieces of cement on the coastline (which supposedly were the "skeleton" for the new project) and which were later meant to be moved/thrown into the water and which obviously never actually happened. And now this. A brand new project with pictures, "demos" and complete information and expected time to complete it (4 years).

Po drugie, Lady Gaga. Nigdy nie bylam jej fanka, wydawala mi sie po prostu wielkiem komercyjnym produktem marketingowym ubranym w dziwne "konstrukcje", majacym na celu wywolanie skandalu i tym samym wszechobecnosc w mediach. Jej wystepy wyobrazalam sobie zawsze jako typowe dla Madonny show, z tysiacami swietnych tancerzy, milionem efektow specjalnych, gry swiatel, aby tylko "zagluszyc" malo interesujacy glos i wydobyc najbardziej sklandaliczne zachowania Lady Gaga. Secondly, Lady Gaga. I was never hooked on her. She seemed to me to be a great commercial product dressed in strange “constructions”, designed to bring about scandal and omnipresence in the media. I always imagined her performances as a typical Madonna-like- shows, with thousands of wonderful dancers, a cascade of special effects, lights, just to "drown out" not very interesting voice and bring out the most scandalous behavior of hers. And then? Well, yesterday, for the very first time, I heard her live performance, during last week gay and lesbian demonstration in Rome. I was speechless. I had no idea that she was playing the piano (I have just read on Wikipedia, she began piano lessons at the age of 4!) and that she sings so well live. Just listen:

Wczoraj, jak zwykle zaparkowalam samochod blisko szkoly, w miejscu, gdzie parkowac moga tylko mieszkancy wyspy na ktorej pracuje, oraz tzw "uprawinieni", czyli osoby posiadajace tzw "pass" (przepustke) z powodu pracy na przyklad. Ja oczywiscie taka posiadam, dlatego nie przejmuje sie za bardzo nakazami i zakazami, ktore niektorych potrafia przyprawic o bol glowy i godzinne poszukiwanie miejsca do zaparkowania.

Jakiez bylo moje zdumienie, kiedy po skonczonej pracy pod przednia wycieraczka znalazlam mandat informujacy mnie o zaparkowaniu w miejscu mi niedozwolonym! Oczywiscie po przyjsciu z pracy do domu, natychmiast zatelefonowalam do R. proszac o znalezione mi jakiegos dobrego adwokata! Hihi! On jednak przyzwyczajony jest do tych ciaglych prosb o porady i wie, ze czesto wpadam w jakies niedorzeczne tarapaty, wiec ze stoickim spokojem zapytal co sie stalo tym razem :) Wyjasnilam szybko i oczywiscie R przyznal mi racje. Dzis rano, R wzial mandat i zaczal mu sie dokladnie przygladac. Nagle powiedzial: "ktos zrobil Ci zart!". Jak to??! Otoz okazalo sie, ze mandat byl dla kogos innego i ten nie chcac go placic wlozyl mi go za wycieraczke w nadzieji, ze ktos inny zaplaci za niego!!! € 39,00! Czy mozecie sobie to wyobrazic?!

Yesterday, as usual, I parked my car near the school, in a place where only residents and so-called "authorized", ie persons who possess a "pass" because of work, for example. Which, of course I have, so I do not worry too much about “no parking zones”, which can give some headache to those who are not “authorized” and who are in search for a parking space.

Imagine my surprise when, after finishing my work at the front windshield wiper I found a ticket informing me I parked in a wrong place! Of course, after returning home, I immediately telephoned R and asked him to find me a good lawyer! Haha! He is obviously accustomed to these bizarre requests as he knows how often I fall into some ridiculous trouble, so he stoically asked what happened this time:) I explained quickly, and of course R told me I was right. This morning, R looked at the ticket and suddenly said: "Someone made you a joke. " How's that?! Well, it turned out that the ticket was for someone else and since the person had no intention whatsoever to pay it, they put it under my wiper in the hope of making someone else do it! € 39.00! Can you imagine?

Ok, oto moj obiecany post optymistyczny. Nie bede opisywac moich pozytywnych wizji na temat swiata i mojego zycia osobistego. Po prostu podziele sie z Wami, kilkoma informacjami i zdjeciami, ktorych widok cieszy mnie ogromnie.

Ok, here is my promised optimistic post. I will not describe my positive vision about the world and my personal life. I’ll just share with you some information and photos, the sight of which I enjoy tremendously.

Po pierwsze fartuchy. Teraz wiecej czasyu bede spedzala w domu. Moze zatem sprawie sobie jeden z tych nietypowych fartuszkow? Co myslicie? Ja jestem zachwycona oryginalnoscia i pomyslowoscia autora. Fartuch, w ktorym mozna wyjsc na ulice i robic zakupy bez zazenowania! Super. Popieram na 100%. Fartuchy szyje Pani Urszula i sa one uniwersalne, tzn rozmiarowo pasuje na kazdego. Besides, maybe not everything ends. In the previous post I wrote about satiation, glut and excess. And here's the news that the abandoned several months ago work on the project of a great clothing outlet (about 100 stores), despite the already created structures near the town in which I live has been resumed!

Poltora miesiaca bez wiesci. Niezle. Nie mialam casu, weny tworczej i ochoty na pisanie. Taka jest prawda. To moj ostatni miesiac w obecnej pracy i potem wakacje. W miedzyczasie tysiace wyslanych mailii z CV w srodku i prosba o zwrocenie uwagi na moja skromna osobe. Boze, w jakich czasach przyszlo nam zyc. Wszystko jest na wyciagniecie reki a jednoczesnie tak trudne do osiagniecia. Przesyt wszystkim doslownie. Nie ma potrzeby na "wiecej". Wszystko juz bylo, wszystko sie juz przejadlo, nie ma potrzeby otwierania kolejnych zakladow, biur, sklepow a co za tym idzie, miejsc pracy oczywiscie. Wrecz przeciwnie, gdziekolwiek bym sie nie ruszyla widze tylko tabliczki z napisem "likwidacja". Niestety nie moge tego zmienic. Musze sie z tym zmierzyc. Bedzie ciezko, wiem, ale dam sobie jakos rade. Mam nadzieje. Teraz potrzebuje na troche zwolnic i zastanowic sie dobrze, co teraz chcialabym robic. W jakim kierunku pojsc. Kontynuowac, czy zmienic branze calkowicie? Tyle pytan w glowie.. Na razie zostawiam to wszystko "na potem". Teraz najwazniesze to zakonczyc ten miesiac, odpoczac i przemyslec to wszystko na spokojnie. Taki jest plan.

Do tego wszystkiego, jakby tego bylo malo, w zeszlym tygodniu strasznie sie przeziebilam (do tej pory nie za dobrze sie czuje), a przedwczoraj kilkudniowa soczewka, ktora wkladalam do oka, rozdarla sie na 2 nierowne czesci, i ta mniejsza zostala mi w oku. Po tym jak wczoraj wreszcie udalo mi sie ten kawalek zlokalizowac (ale nie wyjac), udalam sie na ostry dyzur, gdzie lekarz popatrzyl mi w oko przez ten specjalny mikroskop i oznajmil, ze nic w srodku nie mam!!! Przepisal mi tylko jakies krople do oczu, bo przeciez NA PEWNO dyskomfort, ktory czuje w oku, to efekt tarcia, pocierania i maltretowania caly dzien TEGO OKA. Do tego, kazal mi zaplacic za wizyte (€25) bo jak to okresli, moj przypadek to tzw "alarme bianco" (dosl. bialy alarm), czyli po prostu bezpodstawna wizyta na ostrym dyzurze! Na szczescie kasy byly zamkniete o tej porze (ok 19) i nic nie zaplacilam. Mam teraz na to 3 dni. Nie chce placic, bo jestem przekonana, ze lekarz sie mylil i po prostu nie znalazl tego kawalka soczewki. Teraz mam 2 wyscia: moge cieszyc sie, ze nic w oku nie mam, wrocic i zaplacic za "bezpodstawna wizyte" lub isc prywatnie do okulisty, zaplacic za wizyte jakies €70, wyjac czesc soczewki, ktora tkwi gdzies w kaciku i potem po pisemnej relacji tegoz okulisty zalozyc sprawe o odszkodowanie w szpitalu. Sama juz nie wiem co mam zrobic. Bo dzis jakos nie czuje, ze cos w tym oku zostalo. Jejku, jaka dluga i beznadziejna ta historia. Teraz napisze chyba drugiego posta, zeby jakos zrownowazyc ten nastroj ogolnego przygnebienia i pesymizmu.

It's been a month and a half without posting anything. Not too bad.. I did not have time, inspiration and any desire to write. This is the pure truth. This is my last month in the current job and then vacation. In the meantime, thousands of emails with my resume and the polite request to draw attention to myself. God, what times are we living in?! Everything is at our fingertips and at the same time everything is so difficult to achieve. Glut of literally everything. There is no need for "more." Everything has been done, everything has been already invented, there is no need to open new plants, factories, offices, stores and hence the variety of jobs offered on the market is very limited. Unfortunately I cannot change that. I have got to face it. It will be hard, I know, but somehow I will succeed. I hope. Now I need to slow down and ponder on what I would like to do. In what direction to go. Continue or completely change the working field? So many questions in my head .. For now I leave it all "until later". June will end, then I'll get some rest and I'll be able to think clearly and positively.. That's the plan.

To make matters worse, as if this all was not enough, last week got a cold (I still do not feel well), and a day before yesterday, my contact lens, which I was putting into my eye, got torn into two unequal parts, and the smaller one remained in my eye. Only yesterday, I finally I managed to locate it (but not remove it), and so I immediately went to the ER where the doctor looked me in the eye through this special big microscope and announced that he found nothing! He prescribed me some eye drops, because surely the discomfort I felt was the effect of rubbing the eye constantly. Plus, he asked me to pay per visit (€ 25) because, as he called it, my case is so-called "alarme bianco" (lit. white alarm), which is simply an unfounded speculation about an emergency situation! Fortunately everything was already closed and so did not pay. I now have 3 days to do it. Do not want to pay, because I am convinced that the doctor was wrong and simply didn't find this piece of lens. Now I have 2 options: I am happy with the doctor's diagnosis, I go back and pay for the "unfounded visit" or I'll go private, pay about € 70 for the visit, have the portion of the lens removed, and then after having received a written statement from the second doctor, I sue the hospital for damages (which doesn't seem a a total exaggeration considering I live with a lawyer). I really do not know what to do. Today, somehow, I do not feel that something is in that eye. Gee, what a long and hopeless story. I'll probably write another post, in order to somehow balance this mood of despondency and pessimism.

Maybe finally I've found a dress for my brother's wedding. It's Luisa Spagnoli and I've seen it only in the picture so I need to go to the actual shop... to check the price first ;)

A oto sukienka, ktora Kate Middleton nosila wczoraj podczas swojego wieczornego bankietu weselnego. Ponowny, jak w przypadku sukni slubnej, projekt Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen). Czy ona nie wyglada jak ksiezniczka? Juz uwielbiam jej styl, mysle, ze zostania okrzyknieta nowa ikona mody, porownywalna z Grace Kelly czy Katherine Hepburn! Zobaczycie!

(Also from Sarah burton from Alexander McQueen) Doesn't she look like a princess? I already love her style, I think she soon will be hailed the new icon of fashion, comparable to the Grace Kelly and Katherine Hepburn! You'll see!

Mozecie mowic co chcecie, ale dzisiaj najwazniejsi sa ONI. Tak bylam wsrod jednej trzeciej calej ludzkiej poulacji (ok 2 miliardow ludzi), ktora zwariowala na ich punkcie i widziala dzisiajszy slub (tak, bylam w pracy) i potem go ponownie obejrzala na youtube. Kate i William wygladali fantastycznie i byli absolutnie ujmujacy w swojej prostocie i skromnosci. Z jednej strony protokul dyplomatyczny i wszystkie te sztywne reguly, z drugiej wielkie prawdziwe uczucie i emocje dwojga normalnych mlodych ludzi, ktorzy podjeli te wazna decyzje o byciu razem na zawsze. Cudowne.

You can say what you want but today it's all about THEM! Yes, I am among the third of the whole world population (about 2 billion of people) who went crazy about the royal wedding. I watched it (yes, I was at work) and rewatched it and got touched by the beauty of the ceremony. Kate and William looked amazing and were both bewitching in their simplicity and modesty. On the one hand we had a royal wedding, with all the "do's and dont's" and a breach of protocol, on the other a great truthful feeling and emotion trigged by this important decision of being together forever. Beautiful.

Turyn. To byl bardzo udany weekend. Pogoda wspaniala: 20-25 stopni i slonce. Jedlismy w lokalnych restauracjach serwujacych typowa kuchnie z regionu Piemontu, a jesli chodzi o zabytki, zobaczylismy wszystko to, co sobie zaplanowalismy, wiec sukces na calej linii. Popatrzcie sami:

We ate in local restaurants serving typical cuisine from the region of Piedmont, and when it comes to sightseeing, we saw all what we planned to see, so as you can see, we couldn't ask for more.
