My Birthday!

October 5 is a day I'm looking impatiently. This was the case also this year. Will it be the case also the next one? I have no idea, really! Next year I'll be 30!!!! Gosh, cannot even think about this. Therefore I'm going to concentrate only on this day and year and put aside worries to a later date.

It was a very nice day after all! I had a little dinner-party with my bf's family and I also received some presents from them! Want to see them? here they are!

That was the day when I started my blog. One year ago. I didn't write anything when I wrote my 100th post since I didn't find it significant and necessary but today it is. I'm overjoyed at my little "success" (Yes, I want to call it this way) and proud of my consistency. I'm astonished too because I would have never imagined that blogging would give me so much thrill and comfort. Blog became a shelter, a place where I go if I want to speak up, if sth important happened or if I simply spotted a nice picture or read an interesting article on the web. I come here if I'm sad or annoyed or bewildered by sth. And then I share all these things with YOU. You are essential, dear friends. Thanks to blogging I found really good friends. Yes, friends, although I can be criticised by psychologists who would insist that you cannot make a real, long-lasting friendship in an interactive world. Well, I refuse to accept it and I scream out loud: Yes, you can! Therefore thank you, my FRIENDS for being with me. And Happy Birthday, my Blog!

My birthday, my presents, and some update! : )

This will be quite a long post...

I know it took me a while, but here I am, finally! : ) I have started to advertise my lessons, especially among people who work in the tourism industry who, as you can imagine, are a big part of the population in Sicily in general. Some of them have already responded, and so I'm getting really busy: in the morning I'm (still, for the last 4 weeks) in the office, and then from 5.00pm I work as a private tutor. I love it and I don't have time to waste! : )

Anyway, girls, I had a wonderful time during this little gathering with my "second family" and my closest friends : ) I think these pictures (some of them are not of a perfect quality, we forgot to take the camera with us, so used Ra's IPhone) speak for themselves:

Aprt from those, I received also a beautiful plum coloured coat by Benetton (together with the bag) that you can see in one of the pictures above and a violet shawl for colder days. from another colleague of mine. I love all of them!

Then, yesterday, we went to Ragusa, a little town in Sicily, where we participated in the "Buskers Ragusa Ibla" event. Travelplan website describes it this way: "Since 1994, Ragusa Ibla’s streets and squares have been invaded by street artists from all over the world every October for a week: jugglers, acrobats, clowns and others all perform in exciting shows." It's a wonderful occasion the city gives to local artists to exhibit their works and present themselves to the public.

Thoughts and plans

Yesterday there was my bf's Dad's birthday party. There was this delicious dinner (my bf's Mum is a wonderful cook), we had an antipasto (appetizer): a big tagliere of salumi e formaggi, and then this exquisite lasagne with vegetables.... and as a dessert... Tiramisù!!! Mmmmm everything was delicious... Then we handed in the presents. There were two books regarding some concepts of philosophy (my bf's Dad is a great "supporter" of Aristotle, he loves reading about the history of thought, he's very much into the philosophical and logical inquiry, etc), and some "graded reader" fiction books in English + CDs that I prepared for him. I have taken some pics from that evening which I'll try to put here this evening.

The next thing I'm thinking about today is my parents' coming here to Sicily for 1-2 weeks in the summer (July probably). It would be the second time in Sicily for them (the first time they came here 2 years ago) and I really would love to make their stay pleasant and memorable. This was the idea last time as well. Unfortunately it didn't entirely pull off.. There were some misunderstandings and we fell out quite often... We quarrelled over some very trivial, unimportant things. I suppose I wanted this vacation to be so perfect that I created this overwhelming sensation of pressure and was stressed out all that time (when the bus didn't come on time, when the hotel I wanted to take them to was fully booked, etc...). So now I wanted to make up for my behaviour, forget about the past and put my mind at ease... I mean hopefully. If they come. So today I will start searching for the plane tickets...

Then I'm considering using my scooter again from April instead of my Smart since there will be this huge event taking place in the district where I work, i.e. G8 Environment Ministers' Meeting (April 22-24). I can imagine that all the main streets will be closed for the regular traffic and it will be impossible to find even a tiny (my car is really small) parking space. In this period it's already difficult beacuse they're preparing the districts: road works everywhere, buildings are being reconstructed, refurbished, renovated, etc.. there's lots of dust and noise.
