This is what I would like to be. This is what I believe I can become. Maybe it's a little more difficult since I live in a small town in Sicily. On this blog I want to describe how my life here gradually changes and evolves. Describe my little successes and failures. Enjoy!

Some fashion, some style : )

Spring always makes me think of fashion. You change the clothes in the closet, you start to see the spring shop displays full of nice, vivid colours and I always get
the "fashion bug" : )

These can become my/your inspiration for the summer:

1. Claudia Schiffer as Brigitte Bardot...:

2. .. or maybe as Frida?

For me, defefitely Brigitte.

3. Or maybe sth more serious, sth more military? Gisele (remember that she gave birth to her baby just 4 months ago!) presented this collection in Vogue Korea (May 2010). It includes the newest propositions by Jean Paul Gaultier, Balmain, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Burberry and American Apparel

Ok, you could say: "Oh, come on, Jo. It's all Photoshop!" And if I show you this?!:

I know you are completely speechless now : ) Happy Tuesday! : )

My bf becomes a star...

This was a tough week. A very tough one, I'd say. But it's Tuesday again, I want to (and need to) move on. Thank you for your comments, emails, for your support. I didn't reply to you, I didn't leave comments on your blogs because I had to concentrate on only one thing.

It's not a Valentine's Day, but this post will be entirely dedicated to my bf, who slowly becomes a Very Important Person here, in our small Siracusa. He, as you know, is a lawyer and despite his young age, starts to distinguish himself as a young, ambitious and extrememly nice professional. I can bet that when you think "lawyer", the first words-associations that come to your mind are: money, even more MONEY, success, a big house, no, not a house, a mansion sounds much better and loads of work. Well, I will disappoint you: on this list, only a lot of work is the factor that characterizes this profession. My bf works hard. At the beginning this caused many rows, disagreements between us. I insisted on having him more at home and not just for meals, he kept telling and explaining that this is what his work involves: long hours in the firm, long meetings with clients. Plus with the competition one cannot afford to decline seeing a client for this or that reason... So finally we made a compromise: no coming back home after 9.00 pm, free Saturday afternoon and Sunday. And this seems to work : ) I'm pretty busy myself with classes, plus Artù now so I believe we spend enough time with each other.

Anyway, this all to tell you that finally his work bears fruit. Not in terms of money and earnings (yet) but surely in terms of prestige and respect he's earning from other lawyers. He was asked to write an article for a national newspapaer for Italian lawyers:

He's invited to take part in conferences not only here, in Sicily but also in Rome and Milan. Last night he came back from Milan and despite the fact that he didn't have time at all to buy me little something, these are the gadgets he received and which I became an owner of:

1. A fancy, original piggy bank made of ceramics

2. A strong, water-resistant laptop bag

3. Cute packet of jelly candies in an elegant box:

4. Beautiful little blue notebook to use at the meetings:

5. A packet of mini-crayons, beacause who wouldn't like to doodle in this brand new notebook during these boring, long meetings : )

What's more, during the last conference, a serious Italian newspaper, Sole 24 ore interviewed him and a fragment of this interview was actually published! You can see it here. Unfortunately, it's in Italian. Don't ask me what it's about, it's too ambigious and complicated...

Anyhow, this all to say I'm utterly happy and proud of YOU : )) I love you!!!

PS. I want to welcome back my dearest Jordan, who started a new blog (finally!!)

What is a tragedy for you?

Is it when you forget to pay your bills on time? Is it when your dog eats your favourite shoe? Is it when you are 2 mins late for the last train? Is it when you lose your job? Or maybe when you break up with your bf/gf? All these things could be considered tragedies. Everything depends on the perspective and your personal attitude. To me, this day today is a tragedy. Polish President dies in a plane crash. Together with his wife and scores of other senior Polish figures. Let's be honest, I'm not interested in politics. I'm not here, in Italy, I wasn't back there in Poland. But it doesn't matter today.

I just finished my morning class and went out with Artù for a walk in Piazza Santa Lucia when I received a text message from my Mum informing me about the tragedy. Since that moment I have been crying and grieving continously when listening to the Polish radio on the Internet in seek for news and more information... Everyone died. "Crème de la crème" as the French would say. All the most important politicians, historians, representatives of Poland. I realised it cannot be fully understood by someone who is not Polish. My bf is trying to convince me that "things like that happen...", that it could be an opportunity for the country, than one should be sad but should aslo be able to look at this objectively. Well, I can't. At least not today. Maybe my reaction is exaggerated because I cannot be there? Or maybe I'm simply oversensitive... I called my Mum who started to cry together with me and I must say it was very comforting... Unfortunately my Dad wasn't home but after a few mins he called me on my mobile and tried to console me. This was very touching.

Only once have I felt the way I'm feeling now and it was when the Pope died, exactly 5 years ago. But I was in Poland and it was a bit easier. All the cars were "decorated" with a piece of black material/clothing attached to the radio aerial. I did that too. These tragedies change and unite people. Even if for a brief moment but suddenly you see they become kinder to each other, less aggressive, suddenly you don't hear about rapes, murderers or burglaries on radio or TV, people try to help each other, they become nicer. What's more I don't care about politics. Polish politics sucks, it's famous for outrageous scandals, continous quarrels and disorder and (of course) corruption. But it doesn't matter today. I feel as if sth has finished and my country will never be the same. Don't pity me. Just let me be sad. I know it'll pass.

Why, oh why I'm not Paris Hilton?

I hate Paris Hilton. I do. She's so shallow. Yeah, you might say: "How do you know?! You should get to know a person well in order to judge them!" Yeah, you're absolutely right, but in this case, a simple glance is enough to have an opinion on her. This blank, silly look, this emotionless voice... I wonder why the journalists want to interview her, after all, she's got nothing to say. Never. Or she has but it's all but interesting, wise and intelligent. Yes, Paris, you're stupid. To my mind, at least. BUT she can have anything she desires. Prada dress? Here you go. Versace shoes? No problem at all. Yves Saint Laurent bag? Right away! I want that too... At least for one day... I have just found one of these bags in one of the Internet shops and it looks so amazing... The price is scary... €760,00 Oh Gosh!

Just take a look. Isn't it extrordinary??!!

Ok, so I make an official appeal and request: is there anyone out there who doesn't know what to do with their money? Is there someone who has 760 euros to spend? I'm Jo and I would be very happy to receive this "small" present from you. You can get this bag on the FarFetch website. I promise to thank you publicly on my blog : )

And here's sth only for my Mum. Today is her nameday, and in Poland a nameday is a big thing, therefore forgive me, but this one will be in Polish.

Mamusiu, wszystkiego naj naj najlepszego z okazji imieninek! Niestety nie moge wreczyc Ci takiego bukieciku, jak tu na zdjeciu, dzis osobiscie, ale obiecuje nadrobic to, gdy przyjade na krotkie wakacje w maju : ) Buziaczki!!!

Difficult to describe me really. Definitely I am very complicated and ambitious... an aesthete.. sometimes a complainer. Neverhteless I would like to become Miss Independent. But no big words like sacrifice, dedication, devotion, etc... After all, I am a normal working girl who likes to go out, do shopping and having fun with her friends.
