This is what I would like to be. This is what I believe I can become. Maybe it's a little more difficult since I live in a small town in Sicily. On this blog I want to describe how my life here gradually changes and evolves. Describe my little successes and failures. Enjoy!

Barilla...

I'd like to draw your attention to some new spots of Barilla, the most famous Italian pasta. They are so incredibly enchanting. Why? Because they are simple. Family, home, friends. These are important things in life. Not money or career. Don't you agree? The voice you hear in the background belongs to one of the most popular and important icon-singers of the 1960's, Mina who retreated from the public life more than 10 years ago and who refuses to come back to the public eye. She keeps writing to some magazines and, as in this case, use her voice for various occasions but never shows her face. To me, she's like a ghost.. Everyone praises her and talks about her but ever since I came to Italy, I had never a chance to see her performing... Does she really exist?

Under each ad, you'll find the translation of the text.

This is our starting point. It's the family. Sometimes it protects you, sometimes it encourages you. At times it cannot wait to have one, at times you want to have none. You think that by yourself you can arrive further but when you sit there, in the middle, you realise that in order to feel really free, you need to have the roots. Lasagne Emiliane Barilla. The joy of being together.

The children. With them you need fantasy and sweetness. And the best way to raise them is to grow up with them. Farfalle with the tomato sause, Barilla. The joy of being together.

Picnic in Pantalica : )

So the weather got so beautiful in the last few weeks that we have already started our picnic season : ) This Sunday we went to Pantalica (which is famous for its tombs dating back from the 13th to the 7th centuries BC) with our friends and Artù of course!

Here you can see one of the tombs:

We all enjoyed ourselves a lot walking and admiring the picturesque scenery. And when the time came, we found a perfect tree...

and started our picnic : )

We had fun and Artù had fun too. There were so many things to discover, touch, smell and bite:

At the end of the day we were all worn out... even our full of energy, rowdy and boisterous Artù, who really didn't feel like getting to the car trunk and who slept all the afternoon after we came back home : )

PS. I'm so happy, one of my dearest Italian friends, F. started a blog! Yaaay! : )

Last weekend was about fun.

What a lovely weekend it was! The weather was truly spring-like and I loved to see that in the market yesterday in the morning (I bought some honey free of preservatives and nuts):

I loved to be finally able to walk with my Italian family & friends & Artù in the woods and meadows this Sunday!

As you can see Artù is growing fast. Here are some random pics I took of him last week. A dog, when tired can sleep everywhere and in many different positions:

When comparing with previous pics, the crate looks smaller and smaller everyday!

My dog loves chewing shoes : ) Especially the good quality leather ones : )

On a different note, I have finished "The Book Thief" book. I want to thank Julia for recommending it, it was originally written and simply wonderful. Plus a real tearjerker too. You should absolutely read it! Now, I started to read "Six Great Modern Plays" which is a collection of the most important plays of the 20'th century. I want to reread some of the important literature works I studied when being at the univeristy. It makes me feel more "intellectual" : ) Thus I'm off to continue "Three Sisters" by Anton Chekhov.

A studio : )

I feel spring in the air! : ) I'm so happy this season is finally coming. You'd say: "Yeah, but you're in Sicily, you have summer all the time!" Well, it's just partially true. I mean the air is definitely different in spring, summer, autumn and winter. Even here : )

Yesterday my Mum has inspired me with these pictures of studio-rooms. I love them all so much! You can have your little adorable studio even if you cannot dedicate the whole room or don't have a separate space for it. And they are so spring-oriented, don't you think? : )

My pick is of course the one in pink. What about yours? : )

Artù!!!

Today it's exactly one week since Artù is with us. It's been a tough week, especially that my bf went to Rome for 3 day conference and I was all by myself with our little puppy. Believe it or not, it's a lot of work with 2 month old Lab! Especially if you want to teach him discipline, order and obedience. He still has some accidents at home (you cannot imagine how often this little creature has to relieve himself!) Anyway, it's going quite well. I'm going to show you the first tricks of Artù:

Plus some pics.

First ride in Toyota Yaris trunk:

Today in the morning the weather was so beautiful we decided to take Artù to the beach. He loved it!

Some pics taken at the terrace of our appartment...

...and at home:

How about you? Did you enjoy your weekend?

PS. I cannot wait. And you?

Oscars!

I'm so happy Avatar didn't make it in the end! Yeah! : ) I'm sorry all these bloggers who trully heart this movie. Well, I'm not one of you. Instead, I'm so happy for James Cameron's ex-wife, who totally pulled it off! I saw The Heart Locker and didn't find it brilliant but I'm happy that it was finally woman who won Oscar for the best movie and directing. You rock, Kathryn! : )

BUT the most spectacular was Oscar for Sandra (Bullock), I loved her so much in "The Blind Side". She proved she's not just a good comedy actress but also a wonderful drama performer.

And what do you think about this year's Oscars ceremony?

Artù. The first day : )

Thank you so much for your comments and support : ) Here are the pics from yesterday evening and today morning : ) I must say I was extremely surprised about Artu's behaviour this night. He was very calm and slept the whole night long until 6. Then he wanted to play (of course!) : ) Now he is sleeping on his new black cushion that you can see below : )

I'm happy : )

Here with Virginia: the owner of the Labs:

My photo
Difficult to describe me really. Definitely I am very complicated and ambitious... an aesthete.. sometimes a complainer. Neverhteless I would like to become Miss Independent. But no big words like sacrifice, dedication, devotion, etc... After all, I am a normal working girl who likes to go out, do shopping and having fun with her friends.
